Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our client's team in Kingsport, Tennessee. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 and will be responsible for the design, development, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial process control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, test, commission, and support industrial control systems using Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7.
• Develop and modify control logic, sequences, interlocks, alarms, graphics, and process control strategies.
• Configure and troubleshoot PCS 7 automation stations, operator stations, engineering stations, and associated system components.
• Develop and maintain functional specifications, control narratives, I/O documentation, logic diagrams, and other engineering documentation.
• Perform system integration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Troubleshoot PLC/DCS hardware, software, communications, instrumentation, and control-loop issues.
• Support process control optimization and improve system reliability, availability, and performance.
• Work with process engineers, electrical engineers, instrumentation technicians, maintenance personnel, and operations teams to resolve control-system issues.
• Interface with field instrumentation, motor control systems, VFDs, analyzers, and other plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and control-system interfaces.
• Participate in project planning, estimation, design reviews, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical support during plant shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning, and critical maintenance activities.
• Ensure automation solutions comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and applicable safety requirements.
• Assist with cybersecurity, system backups, software version control, and lifecycle management of control systems.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of industrial controls/process automation experience.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 is required.
• Strong understanding of industrial process control and automation principles.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting control logic and process sequences.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, control narratives, loop diagrams, and instrumentation documentation.
• Experience with industrial networking and control-system communications.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
