Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated BAS Controls Technician to join our client's growing team in Charleston, South Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial and industrial facilities.

This is a hands-on role suited to a technician who enjoys working with building controls, HVAC systems, networking, and automation technology while interacting directly with customers and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, commission, and troubleshoot BAS/DDC control systems.
  • Perform start-up, testing, and commissioning of HVAC control systems.
  • Troubleshoot control panels, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, VFDs, and related equipment.
  • Configure and troubleshoot BAS software, graphics, alarms, schedules, trends, and sequences of operation.
  • Perform point-to-point testing and verify system operation against project specifications.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, sequences of operation, and project documentation.
  • Integrate HVAC equipment and control devices into BAS networks.
  • Troubleshoot communication issues involving BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and other building-control protocols.
  • Work with project managers, engineers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and customers to resolve field issues

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working with BAS, DDC, HVAC controls, or building automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and their control sequences.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and mechanical plans.
  • Experience with BAS/DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, and control panels.
  • Familiarity with BACnet and/or Modbus communication protocols.
  • Basic understanding of IP networking and computer systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in the field.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in mechanical rooms and other commercial building environments.
