Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Water Treatment Commissioning Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of water treatment systems for hyperscale and enterprise data center projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring all water treatment, cooling, and filtration systems are commissioned to the highest industry standards — meeting performance, reliability, and sustainability requirements.

The successful candidate will act as the technical and managerial lead for commissioning activities across multiple stakeholders, including design teams, mechanical contractors, vendors, and end clients.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Management

  • Oversee end-to-end commissioning of water treatment and water management systems within data center environments (including cooling towers, filtration, RO, DI, and chemical dosing systems).

  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures aligned with project timelines and client specifications.

  • Manage all commissioning documentation, including test scripts, reports, and turnover packages.

  • Lead commissioning meetings, ensuring alignment between design, construction, and operations teams.

Technical & Operational Oversight

  • Ensure systems meet required operational parameters, performance criteria, and regulatory compliance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during commissioning and system handover phases.

  • Collaborate with process engineers and controls specialists to verify system integration and automation sequences.

  • Validate instrumentation and control systems for water quality monitoring (pH, conductivity, TDS, etc.).

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate between OEM vendors, mechanical and electrical subcontractors, and the client commissioning team.

  • Ensure seamless communication with the data center operations and facilities teams to facilitate smooth project handover.

  • Manage risk and implement mitigation strategies related to water system performance, safety, and environmental compliance.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with site safety standards and environmental policies.

  • Maintain QA/QC procedures and ensure documentation accuracy for all commissioning activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience (5–10 years) managing commissioning of water treatment systems — ideally within mission-critical or data center environments.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Process water treatment technologies (filtration, softening, RO, UV, DI, etc.)

    • Cooling water systems and chemical treatment programs

    • Control systems integration (BMS, PLC, SCADA)

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.

  • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

  • Familiarity with commissioning standards such as ASHRAE, CxA, or LEED advantageous.
