Job Description

Field Service Technician – Power
Location: Tokyo, Japan

Field Activities

  • Perform testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and time-and-material tasks for power products such as AC UPS systems and DC rectifiers in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction while managing time, cost, and resources effectively.

  • Respond promptly to emergency service requests while on 24x7 standby duty.

  • Be available for weekend, holiday, and after-hours support as required.

  • Participate in field troubleshooting in collaboration with technical support, fellow field engineers, and third-party vendors.

Safety

  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and client safety requirements.

  • Complete all required safety courses on schedule.

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), tools, and calibrated instruments during field activities.

  • Report all safety incidents promptly.

Administrative

  • Support the Team Lead and Manager in planning, scheduling, and organizing departmental activities.

  • Prepare technical documentation such as Method of Statement, Risk Assessments, Site Acceptance Test procedures, and Incident Reports.

  • Ensure job debriefings are completed promptly and that objectives and key results are monitored and achieved.

  • Collaborate with project management to plan and schedule testing and commissioning activities.

  • Attend all required technical and safety training courses.

Client Management

  • Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring any complaints are addressed promptly with appropriate corrective actions.

  • Maintain technical competence to handle required applications through available training and coaching.

  • Represent the company professionally in terms of vehicle, dress, appearance, and conduct, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery of work.

Qualifications

  • NITEC, Diploma, or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant field service experience.

  • Knowledge of servicing power products such as AC UPS systems, DC rectifiers, PDUs, STS units, and batteries.

  • Experience in critical infrastructure environments is desirable.

  • Strong customer focus with commitment to exceeding client expectations.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to work effectively with culturally diverse teams.

  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build long-term partnerships with internal teams and external clients.

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and a collaborative team player.

  • Action-oriented and results-driven with strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
