Grid Connections Manager – Data Centres

The Opportunity

A rapidly growing data centre and AI infrastructure business is looking for a Grid Connections Manager to support the development and delivery of large-scale data centre projects across Australia.

This is a senior role focused on grid connections, power development and stakeholder management, working across network service providers, AEMO, consultants, internal engineering teams and other key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will play a key role in taking major power connections from early development through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage grid connection activities for large-scale data centre developments.

• Manage relationships with NSPs, AEMO, consultants, utilities and other external stakeholders.

• Lead connection applications, negotiations and associated commercial agreements.

• Coordinate technical, commercial and project requirements throughout the connection process.

• Work closely with internal development, engineering, construction and commercial teams.

• Manage project programmes, budgets, risks and key milestones associated with grid connections.

• Support site selection and power strategy from a grid connection perspective.

• Coordinate grid studies, network assessments and technical requirements with engineering and specialist consultants.

• Prepare business cases, project updates and recommendations for senior leadership.

• Identify risks and opportunities associated with network capacity, connection timing and power availability.

• Support projects through development, connection, construction and commissioning.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years' experience within the Australian electricity grid / energy sector.

• Experience working for an NSP, AEMO or specialist grid/power consultancy.

• Strong experience managing grid connection projects from development through to delivery.

• Project management experience across complex energy or infrastructure projects.

• Strong understanding of the Australian electricity network and grid connection process.

• Experience working with HV / transmission or distribution networks.

• Strong stakeholder and commercial management skills.

• Experience working with multiple technical and commercial stakeholders.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Experience with large-load connections, data centres, hyperscale developments or other major electricity users would be highly advantageous.
