Senior Director – Engineering

A leading global data centre operator is looking to appoint a Senior Director – Engineering to lead engineering across a growing portfolio of hyperscale and colocation data centre projects in Australia.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility across design, engineering, technical delivery and project development, working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, clients and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering function across multiple data centre developments and delivery programmes.

• Provide technical leadership across electrical, mechanical and building services engineering.

• Oversee design development from early-stage concept through detailed design, construction and handover.

• Drive engineering standards, design quality, value engineering and technical risk management.

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team across multiple projects.

• Manage relationships with design consultants, EPCs, contractors and specialist engineering partners.

• Support project development, feasibility, procurement and delivery strategy.

• Work closely with construction, commissioning, operations and commercial teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

• Provide senior technical input to clients and internal leadership on major engineering decisions.

Experience Required

• Significant senior engineering leadership experience within data centres or other complex critical infrastructure.

• Strong background across electrical and/or mechanical building services engineering, with broad multidisciplinary understanding.

• Experience leading engineering teams through design and project delivery.

• Strong understanding of hyperscale / colocation data centre environments.

• Experience working with major consultants, contractors and project delivery partners.

• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate at both strategic and technical levels.

• Australian project experience highly desirable.
