Applications Engineer – LV/MV Power Distribution | Data Centers

Are you an Applications Engineer with strong experience across LV/MV power distribution, switchgear, switchboards or PDUs?

My client is looking for an experienced Applications Engineer to support complex, engineered-to-order power distribution solutions for customers across the critical infrastructure and data center markets.

This is a technical, customer-facing role working closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Product teams to develop solutions, interpret specifications and deliver technically and commercially viable proposals.

What You'll Do:

  • Review complex customer specifications, one-line drawings and technical requirements
  • Develop LV/MV power distribution solutions across switchgear, switchboards and PDUs
  • Create detailed technical proposals, configurations and supporting documentation
  • Act as a technical resource for customers, sales teams and internal engineering groups
  • Support customer meetings, presentations and technical Q&A
  • Recommend alternative designs, cost-effective solutions and custom configurations
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales and Product Management throughout the sales and project lifecycle
  • Troubleshoot complex application and technical issues
  • Prepare and review drawings, submittals, manuals and other technical documentation
  • Support E-House and Power Distribution Center (PDC) applications and equipment coordination
  • Mentor junior Applications Engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay current with developments across LV/MV distribution, data center infrastructure and emerging power technologies

Ideal Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related
  • 3–5+ years of experience in Applications Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Support or a related technical role
  • Strong knowledge of LV/MV power distribution equipment
  • Experience with switchgear, switchboards and/or PDUs
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, specifications and technical requirements
  • Experience with complex engineer-to-order (ETO) products
  • Design and/or field service experience
  • Understanding of E-House or PDC design and equipment layouts
  • Strong customer-facing, presentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards including UL, NEC, IEEE and NEMA
  • Experience with pricing, cost estimation or value engineering
  • Data center experience is highly desirable

Preferred Background:

  • Experience within electrical power distribution, manufacturing, automation, controls or industrial equipment
  • Experience working with 480V+ LV/MV equipment
  • Exposure to E-House/PDC design, manufacturing or coordination
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or technical drawing review
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, CPQ/configurator or quoting systems
  • Experience developing technical documentation, tools or training materials
  • Previous mentoring or leadership experience
