Controls Technician – Brisbane

About the Role

We are working with a global leader in HVAC, building automation and climate control solutions who are looking to add an experienced Controls Technician to their Brisbane team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong controls professional to work across a range of commercial, industrial and critical building projects, supporting the installation, commissioning, service and optimisation of sophisticated HVAC and building control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, service and troubleshoot HVAC control and building automation systems.
  • Carry out control system programming, configuration and modifications.
  • Diagnose faults across controllers, sensors, actuators, networks and associated HVAC equipment.
  • Undertake commissioning of BMS and HVAC control systems on-site.
  • Work with customers, contractors and project teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Complete system testing, point-to-point checks and functional performance testing.
  • Configure and troubleshoot communication protocols and building automation networks.
  • Review control drawings, schematics, sequences of operation and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to customers.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Support preventative maintenance and system optimisation activities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Controls Technician, BMS Technician, HVAC Controls Technician or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building automation controls.
  • Experience with control panels, sensors, actuators, VSDs and HVAC equipment.
  • Experience with BMS programming, commissioning and fault finding.
  • Understanding of BACnet, Modbus and other building automation communication protocols.
  • Ability to read electrical/control schematics and sequences of operation.
  • Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Relevant electrical, controls, HVAC or engineering qualifications are highly desirable.
  • A current Australian driver's licence.

Desirable Experience

Experience with platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Trane controls, Siemens, Schneider, Johnson Controls, Honeywell or other major BMS/HVAC control systems would be highly advantageous.

Experience working across commercial buildings, hospitals, industrial facilities, data centres or other critical environments is also beneficial.
