Commissioning Manager – Data Centers

The Opportunity

We are working with a leading developer and operator of data centers that is continuing to expand its project portfolio across the APAC region. As part of this growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commissioning Manager to oversee the successful delivery of commissioning activities across large-scale, mission-critical facilities.

This is a senior technical leadership position responsible for ensuring critical infrastructure is tested, validated, and handed over safely, efficiently, and in line with operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commissioning function across multiple data center projects from design through to operational handover.
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and project-specific execution strategies.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities between engineering, construction, operations, consultants, and specialist contractors.
  • Review design documentation, technical specifications, equipment submittals, and commissioning procedures to ensure systems are ready for testing.
  • Conduct site inspections throughout construction to identify and resolve commissioning-related issues.
  • Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), integrated systems testing (IST), and final system validation.
  • Verify that all electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems perform in accordance with the design intent and project requirements.
  • Track commissioning progress, manage project risks, and provide regular reporting to senior project stakeholders.
  • Review and approve commissioning documentation, test results, and handover packages.
  • Manage external commissioning consultants, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure quality, safety, and programme compliance.
  • Support the development of commissioning standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities are completed in accordance with relevant industry standards, project specifications, and company procedures.

Technical Experience

The successful candidate will have experience commissioning critical infrastructure systems, including:

  • HV and LV electrical distribution systems
  • UPS systems and standby generators
  • Mechanical cooling and HVAC infrastructure
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Fire detection and suppression systems
  • Security and access control systems
  • Controls, monitoring, and other mission-critical building services

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience delivering commissioning, MEP, or mission-critical engineering projects, with leadership experience on major developments.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale data center projects.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes, integrated systems testing, and project handover.
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and commissioning documentation.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other engineering or project management software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced construction environments.
