Job Description

We are seeking an experienced BAS Controls Technician to join our client's growing team in Austin, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities.

Niagara 4 certification is required for this position.

This is a hands-on field position for a controls professional who understands HVAC systems, DDC controls, BAS networking, and Niagara 4 and enjoys troubleshooting complex systems and working directly with customers and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, program, commission, and service BAS/DDC control systems.
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Niagara 4 control applications.
• Configure Niagara 4 stations, controllers, drivers, points, alarms, schedules, histories, trends, and graphics.
• Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, system start-up, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, relays, VFDs, and other HVAC control components.
• Diagnose BAS communication and networking issues.
• Develop and modify control logic and sequences of operation.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and sequences of operation.
• Integrate HVAC equipment and third-party systems into BAS platforms.
• Configure and troubleshoot BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus TCP/RTU, and related protocols.
• Perform system testing and verify operation against project specifications.
• Identify deficiencies and complete punch-list items during commissioning.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers and field personnel.
• Assist with customer training and system handover.
• Maintain accurate service reports, commissioning documentation, as-built information, and project records.
• Support preventive maintenance and service activities.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and customer site requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Current Niagara 4 certification is required.
• 2+ years of experience working with BAS, DDC, HVAC controls, or building automation systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Niagara 4.
• Solid understanding of HVAC systems and control sequences.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting BAS controllers and field devices.
• Knowledge of BACnet and Modbus communication protocols.
• Basic understanding of IP networking and Ethernet-based control systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and mechanical plans.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple service or project priorities.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
