Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager (CxM) to support the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data centre projects across Europe. The Commissioning Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing the commissioning process to ensure that all building systems are installed, tested, and operate in accordance with design intent, client requirements, and industry standards.
This is a client-facing role requiring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work across multiple sites and cultures in a fast-paced, high-reliability environment.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Management

Develop, manage, and implement project-specific Commissioning Plans in line with project schedules and milestones

Lead and coordinate the commissioning process from design review through to Integrated Systems Testing (IST), handover, and close-out

Ensure commissioning activities align with client requirements, contractual obligations, and industry best practices (e.g. ASHRAE, CIBSE, LEED)
Technical Oversight

Manage commissioning of mission-critical systems, including:

HV/LV electrical systems
-
UPS, generators, and power distribution
-
Mechanical systems (chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units)
-
BMS, EPMS, and controls
-
Fire detection and suppression systems
-

Review design documentation, specifications, and method statements for commissioning readiness

Identify and manage technical risks, defects, and non-conformances
Coordination & Leadership
-
Act as the primary point of contact for all commissioning-related activities on site

Coordinate with design teams, contractors, vendors, and client representatives

Chair commissioning meetings and workshops
-
Manage and mentor commissioning engineers and specialist subcontractors
Testing, Verification & Handover

Oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST)

Ensure all systems are tested safely, sequentially, and in accordance with approved procedures

Review and approve commissioning scripts, test results, and completion documentation

Support client training, operational readiness, and final handover
Reporting & Compliance

Provide regular progress reports, commissioning trackers, and risk registers

Ensure compliance with local regulations, health & safety standards, and client governance

Support audits, inspections, and client sign-off processes
Required Experience & Qualifications
Essential
-
Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager or Senior Commissioning Engineer on data centre or other mission-critical projects

Strong technical background in electrical and/or mechanical building services

Demonstrated experience delivering Integrated Systems Testing (IST)

Excellent understanding of data centre design, redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), and operational requirements

Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across international projects

Fluent English (written and spoken)

European passport holder with the right to work across EU countries
-
Willingness to travel extensively across Europe
Desirable
-
Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or similar)

Commissioning certifications (e.g. BCxP, CCP, CxA)

Experience working for hyperscale, colocation, or critical infrastructure clients

Knowledge of sustainability standards and energy performance testing

Additional European language skills
