Electrical Subject Matter Expert - Data Center

Overview

The Electrical SME is the senior electrical Subject Matter Expert supporting mission-critical, factory-built power and electrical systems. This role bridges manufacturing and field operations, providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and training to ensure reliable deployment and operation of electrical systems at customer sites.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary L2 electrical escalation point for Field Service teams

  • Support factory testing, FATs, commissioning, and QA activities

  • Lead advanced electrical troubleshooting remotely and on-site

  • Serve as the electrical SME during complex customer, vendor, and internal technical discussions

  • Support and deliver technical training for Field Service Technicians

  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve product reliability

  • Travel to customer sites for escalated service events and commissioning support

  • Ensure all work meets NFPA 70/70E, OSHA, and local electrical code requirements


Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years in electrical field service, commissioning, maintenance, or industrial installation

  • Strong experience with power distribution, controls, motors, VFDs, and PLC interfaces

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams

  • Proven escalation-level troubleshooting and customer-facing experience

  • Comfortable with frequent travel to factories and customer sites


Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Electrical apprenticeship, vocational training, or technical education preferred

  • OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E preferred

  • Electrical license or journeyman certification a plus
