Senior Commissioning Director – Data Centres

We’re working with a well-established Data Centre business that is continuing to expand its operations across Australia and is looking to appoint a Senior Commissioning Director to lead commissioning across a growing portfolio of critical infrastructure projects.

This is a senior leadership position, working across development, design, construction and commissioning to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee commissioning activities across major Data Centre projects from design through to handover.

  • Develop and manage commissioning strategies, processes and programmes across multiple projects.

  • Provide senior technical leadership across MEP systems, including electrical, mechanical, controls and integrated systems testing.

  • Lead and develop internal commissioning teams, consultants and specialist contractors.

  • Work closely with Development, Design, Construction, Operations and Project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Manage Commissioning Agents and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Oversee IST, functional performance testing and final handover into operations.

  • Identify commissioning risks and drive solutions across complex, high-value projects.

  • Establish and maintain commissioning standards, procedures and best practices across the business.

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the organisation's commissioning function.

About You

  • Significant experience within Data Centre / Mission Critical commissioning.

  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).

  • Proven experience leading commissioning on large-scale or hyperscale Data Centre projects.

  • Previous experience managing commissioning teams, consultants and contractors.

  • Comfortable operating at a senior stakeholder / executive level.

  • Strong understanding of the full Data Centre project lifecycle from design through construction, commissioning and operational handover.

  • Experience working for a Data Centre developer/operator, commissioning consultancy, contractor or similar organisation.

  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
