Commissioning Manager – Data Centres

The Opportunity

A rapidly growing AI infrastructure and data centre business is expanding its commissioning function across Australia and is looking to appoint an experienced Commissioning Manager.

This is an opportunity to join a business delivering next-generation, high-density data centre infrastructure, supporting the development and commissioning of large-scale critical environments.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for commissioning activities across major data centre projects, working closely with project delivery, engineering, construction and operations teams to ensure facilities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage commissioning activities across data centre projects from pre-commissioning through to final handover.

• Develop and manage commissioning plans, programmes, procedures and documentation.

• Coordinate commissioning activities across electrical and mechanical systems.

• Work closely with contractors, consultants, vendors and internal project teams throughout the commissioning process.

• Oversee integrated systems testing (IST) and ensure systems perform in line with design requirements.

• Manage commissioning schedules, testing documentation, issues and close-out activities.

• Review commissioning procedures, method statements, test scripts and technical documentation.

• Identify and resolve technical issues throughout commissioning and handover.

• Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.

• Support the transition from construction and commissioning into operational readiness.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to commissioning engineers and project stakeholders.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong experience in data centre commissioning or other highly critical infrastructure environments.

• Proven experience managing commissioning activities on large-scale projects.

• Strong understanding of electrical and/or mechanical critical infrastructure systems.

• Experience with L1–L5 commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).

• Experience managing commissioning contractors, vendors and specialist consultants.

• Strong understanding of project delivery, construction and operational handover.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple commissioning activities and priorities across a complex project environment.

• Data centres / hyperscale / AI infrastructure

• HV/LV electrical systems

• UPS and generator systems

• Mechanical cooling systems

• BMS / EPMS / controls

• Integrated Systems Testing

• Critical environment operations

• Mission-critical infrastructure

This is a senior commissioning position with the opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of next-generation AI and data centre infrastructure in Australia.

The role would suit an experienced Commissioning Manager, Senior Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead or experienced Cx professional looking to take on greater responsibility within a rapidly growing organisation.
