Employment: Contract Location: Houston, TX - United States

A manufacturer of custom electrical control systems is seeking an Electrical Assembly Technician to build and wire control panels from technical drawings. The technician will interpret wiring diagrams and schematics, identify and install components, select the correct wires and terminations, and complete panel wiring to specification. Following appropriate training, the position may also support basic electrical testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematics and bills of material.
• Identify electrical components and verify their condition before installation.
• Install components, wire harnesses and identification tags within control panels.
• Select the correct wire location, gauge and type from the approved drawings.
• Determine wire routing and cut lengths, then install and terminate wiring accurately.
• Select suitable terminals and connection methods for each application.
• Assemble and wire control-panel components in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Inspect completed work for wiring accuracy, correct component selection and workmanship.
• Diagnose and resolve wiring issues using schematics and technical documentation.
• Use the required personal protective equipment and operate tools safely for each task.

Experience and Qualifications

• At least one to two years of experience wiring electrical control panels.
• Practical experience interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics to assemble completed panels.
• Ability to identify electrical components and understand their basic functions.
• Knowledge of wire, terminal and component selection.
• Safe and competent use of electrical hand tools and power tools.
• Conduit-bending experience using manual, hydraulic or electric benders.
• Working knowledge of electrical safety procedures and relevant workplace standards.
• Basic understanding of National Electrical Code requirements for equipment installation and electrical terminations.
• Post-secondary education or technical training in electrical, electronics or electromechanical engineering is preferred.
• Ability to lift and handle materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
