Job Description

Edison Smart is partnering with a high-growth global fintech business to appoint an Engineering Manager into its Singapore technology organisation.

This is an opportunity to lead a team responsible for large-scale, mission-critical financial technology, combining people leadership with technical and architectural ownership.

The Role

You will lead and develop a team of software engineers building highly scalable backend platforms operating across international markets.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of engineers.
  • Provide technical direction across complex backend and distributed systems.
  • Partner with senior engineers on architecture and system design.
  • Own engineering delivery, quality and operational excellence.
  • Drive improvements across scalability, reliability, observability and performance.
  • Support hiring and continued growth of the engineering team.
  • Work closely with Product and other technology leaders on roadmap and priorities.
  • Remain technically credible while focusing primarily on enabling and developing the team.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years' software engineering experience.
  • 2+ years' experience directly managing engineers.
  • Strong backend engineering background using Java or Kotlin.
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices.
  • Strong knowledge of Kafka / event-driven architecture.
  • Experience designing and operating APIs at scale.
  • Cloud experience across GCP or AWS.
  • Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building high-availability, high-throughput production systems.
  • Strong people leadership and mentoring capability.

Experience within fintech, payments, banking or another highly regulated/high-volume technology environment would be advantageous.
