Senior Electrical Engineer – Data Centres | Sydney

About the Opportunity

A leading data centre operator is looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the delivery and ongoing development of major data centre infrastructure across Sydney.

This is an opportunity to join an established organisation operating within the rapidly expanding data centre sector, working across complex, high-availability critical infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background, ideally gained within data centres, mission-critical infrastructure, large-scale commercial projects, utilities, or electrical consulting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support electrical engineering activities across data centre projects and infrastructure.
• Provide technical input across HV, MV and LV electrical systems.
• Review electrical designs, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
• Work closely with design consultants, contractors, vendors and internal project teams.
• Support the delivery of electrical infrastructure from design through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Review equipment selections, technical submissions, shop drawings and design changes.
• Provide technical guidance on UPS, generators, transformers, switchgear, protection systems and distribution infrastructure.
• Participate in design reviews, FAT/SAT, commissioning and integrated systems testing where required.
• Identify technical risks and support the development of engineering solutions.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant Australian standards, project requirements and safety expectations.
• Support continuous improvement of electrical engineering standards, processes and systems across the organisation.

About You

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering.
• Typically 7+ years' electrical engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of HV/MV/LV electrical systems.
• Experience within data centres, mission-critical, utilities, industrial, commercial or major infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution, protection and critical power systems.
• Experience working with consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Comfortable reviewing technical designs and challenging engineering solutions where required.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Australian engineering standards and regulatory requirements knowledge.
• Chartered status or working towards CPEng would be advantageous.
