Principal Control Engineer (GNC) | Austin (Remote with occasional office travel) | Up to $250,000

Join a well-backed stealth startup, who are building photonics/laser solutions for the autonomous systems and orbital systems industries.

As a Principal Control Engineer, your mission will be to own control architecture and implementation, enabling scanning, pointing, stabilization, and actuation of optical sensing systems. This is a high ownership individual contributor position, with opportunity to grow a team over time.

The company HQ is based in Austin; however this position is available as remote working. You must be available for occasional travel to Texas.

Due to government and defense related work, we can only offer employment to either a US citizen or Green Card Holder.

Responsibilities

• Developer precision control algorithms.
• Implement real-time embedded control systems.
• Model Systems dynamics and environmental effects.
• Architect Fault-Tolerant control systems.
• Support hardware-in-loop testing and validation.

Skills

• Proven experience in designing and implementing control systems.
• Classical/Modern control theory
• State Estimation and Filtering
• Real-time Embedded Systems
• Closing control loops
• Experience with space, autonomous systems, or laser-based applications.
