Director, Commissioning & Project Execution | Remote | Critical Power | $250k - $280k + 25% bonus
Are you a commissioning and project execution leader with deep expertise in mission-critical power infrastructure and a passion for delivering complex data center projects?
My client is seeking a Director, Commissioning & Project Execution to lead the delivery of commissioning programs across critical power infrastructure supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and AI-driven data center environments. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing project execution, technical governance, field service operations, and customer engagement across some of the industry's most demanding projects.
Working at the intersection of commissioning, project management, engineering, and field operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and successful deployment of mission-critical electrical infrastructure while helping to scale a rapidly growing services organization.
What You'll Do:
- Lead commissioning programs for medium- and low-voltage power systems across data center and mission-critical facilities
- Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex commissioning, energization, testing, and troubleshooting activities
- Oversee a team of Field Service Project Managers, driving project performance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence
- Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasting, risk mitigation, and overall financial performance
- Support commissioning activities involving switchgear, UPS systems, generators, controls, and associated electrical infrastructure
- Develop and standardize commissioning procedures, testing protocols, work instructions, and documentation across the business
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to improve equipment performance and field execution
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for critical system and equipment issues
- Interface directly with customers, contractors, OEMs, and project stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
- Lead training, mentoring, and development initiatives for field service and project management teams
- Support the continued growth and expansion of commissioning and field services capabilities across the organization
Ideal Background:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- 12+ years of experience within mission-critical infrastructure environments
- 6+ years supporting data center construction, commissioning, operations, or service delivery
- 5+ years of hands-on commissioning and electrical testing experience
- Strong knowledge of switchgear, UPS systems, generators, critical power distribution, and controls
- Proven experience leading technical teams, project managers, or field service organizations
- Strong understanding of commissioning best practices, LOTO procedures, arc flash safety, and industry standards
- Experience managing project financials, forecasting, budgets, and customer-facing engagements
- PMP, PE, NETA, or related industry certifications are highly desirable
- Hyperscale, AI, HPC, or large-scale data center experience is strongly preferred
