Backed by significant growth and investment, the business is focused on building a world-class finance function capable of supporting continued expansion across multiple entities in the US and Canada.

They are seeking an Assistant Controller to partner closely with the VP Controller and CFO, helping strengthen accounting operations, improve processes, and build scalable financial infrastructure. This position offers a clear pathway to a future Controller role as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the accounting function across multiple entities

  • Own and improve month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

  • Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolve accounting discrepancies

  • Drive process improvements across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll Accounting functions

  • Support audit preparation, compliance initiatives, and internal controls development

  • Assist with NetSuite administration, reporting, and system optimization

  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Construction, and Corporate teams to support business growth

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to accounting team members

  • Support cross-border accounting activities across US and Canadian operations

  • Help build scalable accounting processes and reporting capabilities to support future growth

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • CPA strongly preferred

  • 7-12 years of progressive accounting experience

  • Experience in Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting Manager, or similar leadership positions

  • Strong month-end close ownership experience

  • General ledger management and financial statement preparation expertise

  • Advanced balance sheet reconciliation experience

  • Multi-entity accounting experience

  • ERP experience required, NetSuite highly preferred

  • Experience supporting audits, compliance, and internal controls

  • Leadership experience managing or mentoring accounting teams

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
