About the Company

 

My client is seeking a Controls Technician to join their Building Automation Group in multiple regions. The BMS/EPMS Controls Technician is responsible for the successful installation of Building Automation Systems and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems. They represent our organization to our customers, other contractors, fellow employees, and our community in a professional manner. They are effective leaders and communicators, who resolve disputes and negotiate mutually beneficial solutions, and exhibit ownership for their projects. We would prefer the new Controls Technician to be located near South Bend, IN; Columbus, OH; or Chantilly, VA. Candidate must be open to 50% travel to our remote projects.

 

About the Role

 

The BMS/EPMS Controls Technician is responsible for the successful installation of Building Automation Systems and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform checkout, start-up and testing of BMS DDC controllers serving a wide variety of mechanical systems in Data Centers and other critical environments.
  • Perform checkout, start-up and testing of EPMS Graphics serving a wide variety of electrical systems in Data Centers and other critical environments.
  • Communicate with and provide daily updates and status reports to both the Project Lead and Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with and communicate directly with the customer and other contractors in a professional manner.
  • Document project status and participate in the creation and accuracy of close-out documents.
  • Write and follow detailed Method of Procedure (MOP), Change Management (CM) forms and process.
  • Perform BMS commissioning, including Pre-functional, Functional, and Integrated Systems Testing processes, both individually, and with 3rd-Party/Customer commissioning agents.
  • Perform EPMS commissioning, including Pre-functional, Functional, and Integrated Systems Testing processes, both individually, and with 3rd-Party/Customer commissioning agents.
  • Perform periodic Maintenance and Service of existing BMS and EPMS systems in an active Data Center environment.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects in the United States.
  • Work to be performed in a high-security environment, following customer security policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Two-year degree / apprenticeship plus equivalent work experience or Three years Automation / controls field experience required.

 

Required Skills

 

  • Experience with BACnet and/or Modbus protocols and 3rd-Party Systems Integration is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • A strong understanding of computer operating systems and computer networking is required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel required. MS project, or other PM software a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Successful candidates will be self-motivated, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
  • Travel required to Remote Projects 50% of the time.
