Job Description

Electrical Systems Engineer – Power Systems Design (Hands-On)

Ohio

$80,000 – $140,000 + Benefits

We’re working with a global leader in critical power infrastructure to appoint an Electrical Systems Engineer with a strong power engineering background and a passion for hands-on system design.

This is not a purely theoretical role, this is about owning real, high power electrical systems from concept through to validation in a live test environment.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of the design and development of 3-phase power distribution and switching systems, playing a key role in delivering robust, high-performance products used in mission-critical environments.

You’ll be deeply involved across the full lifecycle—architecture, design, protection, controls integration, and physical testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end electrical system design for 3-phase power products
  • Develop power distribution architectures, including layouts and cable sizing
  • Specify and coordinate circuit breakers and protection schemes
  • Design and integrate control and monitoring systems (digital & analogue)
  • Get hands-on in the test lab, validating thermal performance, EMI, and fault conditions
  • Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, NEC and other relevant standards
  • Produce detailed schematics, specifications, and technical reports
  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to deliver complete systems

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years’ experience in electrical engineering, ideally within power systems or power distribution
  • Strong knowledge of 3-phase power systems and electrical infrastructure
  • Proven experience in system-level design (not just components)
  • Understanding of protection, breaker coordination and system reliability
  • Comfortable being hands-on in a lab/test environment
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, NEC standards
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)

Why Apply?

  • Genuine end-to-end ownership of electrical systems
  • Strong mix of design + hands-on validation work
  • Opportunity to work on high-impact, mission critical power technology
