Job Title: Director of Connectivity Solutions Design

Role Overview

The Director of Connectivity Solutions Design will lead the technical design and architecture of hyperscaler, enterprise, broadband/private, and data center interconnect (DCI) solutions. The role ensures that all connectivity offerings are scalable, operationally viable, and aligned with customer requirements. The successful candidate will define reference architectures, govern technical standards, and provide strategic guidance to Product, Network, and Sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Standards

• Set and govern design standards for connectivity and data center solutions across hyperscaler, enterprise, broadband/private, and DCI products.

• Define reference architectures and delivery models that scale, remain supportable, and evolve over time, considering latency, resilience, redundancy, route diversity, SLA adherence, and capacity timelines.

• Ensure solution designs meet customer requirements while being operationally feasible for delivery, support, and monitoring.

Solution Architecture & Evolution

• Adapt designs to reflect changing customer needs and evolving business priorities, including tighter latency targets, new diversity constraints, and accelerated capacity demands.

• Incorporate clear upgrade paths for new technologies, expanded capacity, and additional interconnect options without requiring full redesign.

Sales Enablement & Communication

• Provide Sales teams with high-level architecture overviews, approved solution baselines, and technical guardrails to enable accurate and informed positioning.

• Oversee the clarity and integrity of technical communications to customers, including solution descriptions, architecture overviews, design assumptions, and resilience models.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Identify structural design gaps, recurring exceptions, and delivery constraints (e.g., route diversity limitations, inter-DC reach, capacity bottlenecks) and drive resolution with Network, Capacity Planning, Product Management, and International Partnerships.

• Guide and mentor cross-functional teams, promoting a culture of innovation, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 10+ years of experience in network architecture, solution design, or large-scale connectivity infrastructure, preferably in hyperscaler, enterprise, or carrier environments.

• Proven track record in designing scalable, multi-terabit network and data center interconnect solutions.

Technical Expertise

• Deep knowledge of DCI, DWDM, dark fibre, IP/MPLS, Ethernet, and global WAN architectures.

• Strong understanding of latency-sensitive networks, resilience and redundancy models, route diversity, SLA requirements, and capacity planning.

• Experience in defining reference architectures and technical guardrails for product portfolios.

Leadership & Communication Skills

• Ability to lead and mentor technical teams across multiple functions.

• Strong stakeholder management, influencing skills, and ability to communicate complex designs to both technical and commercial audiences.

• Strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise, able to balance long-term architectural goals with operational delivery constraints.
