Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to own quality across the Company’s polyglot microservices platform, mobile applications and customer-facing financial journeys.

This is a hands-on role responsible for designing scalable automation frameworks, expanding test coverage and embedding quality throughout the development lifecycle across Java/Spring Boot, TypeScript/NestJS, .NET, web and mobile systems.

The ideal candidate has deep experience testing back-end systems, APIs and event-driven services, together with practical mobile and web automation experience and a strong understanding of secure, reliable testing for payments, wallets and digital asset products.

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation Strategy & Frameworks

• Design, implement and maintain scalable and robust automation frameworks across Spring Boot and other platform services.

• Define testing standards and coverage expectations across unit, integration, contract, regression and end-to-end testing.

• Prioritise automation for services and customer journeys with limited existing coverage.

• Continuously improve test reliability, execution speed, maintainability and reporting.

API, Integration & Microservices Testing

• Automate testing across REST and gRPC interfaces for functionality, integration, performance and scalability.

• Validate interactions across Java/Spring Boot, TypeScript/NestJS and .NET services.

• Test event-driven systems, Kafka workflows, failure states, retries and consistency across distributed services.

• Use TestContainers, mocks and controlled test data to create reliable and repeatable test environments.

 

Mobile & Web Quality

• Build and maintain end-to-end automation for customer mobile applications and back-office tools.

• Cover critical journeys including onboarding, KYC, payments, cards, wallets, transfers and swaps.

• Implement mobile automation using Flutter integration testing, Patrol, Appium or comparable tools.

• Develop web end-to-end coverage using Playwright or comparable frameworks.

 

Performance, Regression & Release Assurance

• Develop smoke, regression, load and performance test suites supporting controlled releases

. • Use JMeter or comparable tools to identify bottlenecks and validate platform stability under load.

• Define release-quality gates and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Monitor test results, report defects clearly and track issues through remediation and verification.

Security, Risk & Financial Controls

• Apply risk-based testing to systems handling customer funds, payments, sensitive information and digital assets.

• Validate permissions, authentication, transaction controls, error handling, auditability and recovery behaviour.

• Perform structured exploratory testing to identify edge cases, vulnerabilities and control weaknesses.

• Collaborate with Security, Compliance, Engineering and Product teams to support secure and resilient releases.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with Developers, Product Managers and DevOps Engineers to embed quality throughout delivery.

• Provide technical mentorship to QA Engineers and promote shared ownership of quality across product teams.

• Use quality metrics and defect trends to identify systemic improvements.

• Stay current with emerging testing tools and practices and apply them pragmatically to the Company’s environment.

Required Experience & Profile

• 6+ years of QA automation experience with a strong focus on back-end systems and APIs.

• Strong Java skills and experience with the Spring Boot testing ecosystem, including JUnit, TestContainers and Mockito.

• Ability to test effectively across TypeScript/NestJS and .NET services as well as Java.

• Hands-on experience with mobile end-to-end automation using Patrol, Appium, Flutter integration testing or comparable

tools.

• Experience with PyTest for API testing and JMeter for load and performance testing.

• Experience with Jest and Playwright or comparable web-testing frameworks.

• Experience testing event-driven systems and Kafka or similar messaging technologies.

• Strong knowledge of unit, integration, contract, regression, performance and end-to-end testing strategies.

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and release processes. • Strong ownership, problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience within fintech, payments, banking, cards, wallets, crypto or digital assets.

• Experience testing high-volume transaction systems and customer-funds workflows.

• Familiarity with XRay or comparable test-management tools.

• Knowledge of secure testing environments, test-data controls and regulated product requirements.

• Experience mentoring QA Engineers and establishing quality standards across multiple teams.
