Mechanical Engineer – Data Centres & Mission Critical

About the Role

An established engineering consultancy is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its growing team, working on a range of complex building services and mission-critical projects, including data centres.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of major projects, working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle. The role would suit a mechanical engineer with a building services background who is looking to develop their experience in the data centre sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical building services designs for data centres and other large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects.

• Develop HVAC, chilled water, cooling and ventilation systems to meet project requirements.

• Produce mechanical calculations, technical specifications, reports and design documentation.

• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural and other building services disciplines.

• Work closely with clients, contractors, project managers and other engineering teams throughout project delivery.

• Support design reviews, technical problem-solving and the resolution of engineering issues.

• Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian standards, building codes and project specifications.

• Contribute to the development of junior engineers and maintain high standards of technical delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Experience in mechanical building services design within a consulting engineering environment.

• Experience with HVAC systems, chilled water systems and mechanical plant design.

• Understanding of relevant Australian standards, codes and engineering practices.

• Experience using design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD and relevant mechanical calculation software.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams.

• Data centre or other mission-critical project experience would be advantageous, but is not essential for candidates with a strong building services background.
