Sub-Transmission Engineer

Location: Melbourne, VIC
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Sub-Transmission Engineer to support a growing portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects across Australia.

This is a broad technical role suited to an engineer with experience across both overhead and underground sub-transmission systems, ideally at 33kV and above.

The Role

You will be involved in the design and delivery of sub-transmission projects from early-stage concept and feasibility through to detailed design and delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Design and engineering of overhead and underground sub-transmission systems

  • Working across projects at 33kV and above

  • Developing concept, preliminary and detailed designs

  • Supporting feasibility studies and technical assessments

  • Preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, calculations and technical documentation

  • Working across overhead lines, underground cabling and associated infrastructure

  • Supporting the design of transmission/sub-transmission structures, including towers where relevant

  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders

  • Reviewing designs against Australian standards and network requirements

  • Providing technical input throughout project delivery

  • Supporting junior engineers and contributing to the development of the wider engineering team

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant engineering qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

  • Strong experience in sub-transmission engineering and design

  • Experience across both overhead and underground systems

  • Experience working with 33kV+ networks

  • Strong understanding of Australian electrical/network standards

  • Experience taking projects from concept through to detailed design

  • Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings and technical documentation

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Previous experience with transmission towers / overhead line design would be advantageous
