The Opportunity

An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal HV Design Engineer to join its growing power team in Melbourne.

This is a senior technical position suited to an experienced HV engineer who can take ownership of complex substation and transmission design projects, provide technical leadership, and work closely with clients, contractors and internal engineering teams.

The business is involved across major transmission, distribution, renewable energy and infrastructure projects throughout Australia.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of HV substations and associated transmission infrastructure from concept through detailed design and delivery.

• Provide technical leadership across HV primary and secondary design activities.

• Develop and review engineering studies, specifications, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.

• Lead design reviews and provide technical assurance across projects.

• Work directly with clients, network operators, contractors and project stakeholders.

• Support project teams with technical decision-making, problem solving and design optimisation.

• Mentor and develop engineers within the wider power team.

• Contribute to bids, proposals, project planning and technical scope development.

• Ensure designs meet relevant Australian standards, network requirements and project specifications.
