BAS Engineer – Tampa, FL
Salary: Up to $140,000 + benefits
Location: Tampa, Florida
We’re working with a growing commercial HVAC and building automation company in Tampa that is looking to add an experienced BAS Engineer to its controls team.
The business provides commercial HVAC, building automation, controls, service and construction solutions, working with customers across a range of commercial and industrial environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a BAS professional who enjoys working across the technical side of building automation, including system design, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning and customer support.
The Role
As a BAS Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design, implementation and support of Building Automation Systems.
You’ll work closely with project teams, technicians and customers to ensure BAS systems are correctly designed, programmed, commissioned and operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer BAS/DDC control systems
- Develop control sequences and system architecture
- Program and configure BAS controllers and supervisory systems
- Integrate HVAC equipment and mechanical systems into BAS platforms
- Configure points, alarms, trends, schedules and graphics
- Troubleshoot BAS, DDC and HVAC control systems
- Support system start-up, testing and commissioning
- Review control drawings, specifications and sequences of operation
- Work with field technicians during installation and commissioning
- Diagnose communication and networking issues
- Support upgrades, retrofits and existing BAS installations
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
- Assist with project documentation and technical specifications
- Conduct site visits throughout the Tampa area as required
Experience Required
- Previous experience in BAS/BMS, HVAC controls or building automation
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and DDC controls
- Experience with BAS programming, engineering or commissioning
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus or similar communication protocols
- Ability to read electrical drawings, control schematics and sequences of operation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with customers, technicians and project teams
- Engineering, controls or HVAC-related education is preferred
Experience with Niagara/Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Distech, Siemens, Schneider or similar BAS platforms would be highly beneficial.
