About the Role

We are working with a leading Australian energy and electrical infrastructure business delivering complex high-voltage projects across Victoria and the wider Australian market.

They are looking for a Commissioning Project Lead to take ownership of commissioning activities across major electrical infrastructure projects, leading teams from planning and preparation through to testing, energisation and final handover.

This is a senior position suited to someone who enjoys being technically involved while also taking responsibility for project delivery, client relationships and commissioning teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning activities across HV/MV electrical infrastructure projects from planning through to energisation and handover.

  • Develop and manage commissioning strategies, plans, schedules, test procedures and documentation.

  • Lead and coordinate commissioning engineers, technicians, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

  • Oversee testing and commissioning of HV equipment, protection systems, switchgear, transformers and associated electrical systems.

  • Work closely with construction, engineering and project teams to ensure systems are ready for commissioning and energisation.

  • Manage client interfaces, technical issues, commissioning risks and project deliverables.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to commissioning personnel.

  • Ensure all commissioning activities are delivered safely and in accordance with Australian standards, project specifications and client requirements.

About You

  • Strong background in electrical commissioning, ideally across HV transmission, distribution, substations or major electrical infrastructure.

  • Previous experience leading commissioning activities or projects.

  • Strong understanding of HV electrical systems, protection, testing and energisation.

  • Comfortable managing commissioning teams and coordinating multiple project stakeholders.

  • Able to interpret electrical drawings, protection schemes, test procedures and technical documentation.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of projects through to completion.

  • Relevant electrical engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.

  • Experience working within Australian utility, infrastructure or major electrical projects is highly desirable.
