The Opportunity

We are working with a leading Australian infrastructure organisation that is looking to appoint a Construction Manager – Transmission to oversee the delivery of major transmission infrastructure projects across Victoria and New South Wales.

This is a senior site-based leadership position responsible for managing construction delivery from mobilisation and planning through to completion, commissioning and handover.

You will lead construction teams, contractors and subcontractors while working closely with project management, engineering, commissioning, HSE and client stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and to the required technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the construction delivery of major transmission infrastructure projects across Victoria and NSW.

  • Take overall responsibility for construction activities from mobilisation through to completion and handover.

  • Develop and implement construction methodologies, execution plans, schedules and site strategies.

  • Manage construction contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel.

  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams to resolve technical, design and constructability issues.

  • Manage construction interfaces across civil, electrical, structural, protection, control and commissioning disciplines.

  • Monitor project progress against programme, budget, quality and construction milestones.

  • Identify and manage construction risks, constraints and opportunities.

  • Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, relevant Australian Standards and network requirements.

  • Maintain a strong focus on HSE, environmental compliance and quality assurance across all construction activities.

  • Lead site meetings, construction planning sessions, progress reviews and coordination meetings.

  • Manage site resources, labour, plant, equipment and materials to support project delivery.

  • Work closely with commissioning teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction through to testing, energisation and handover.

  • Review construction documentation, inspection and test plans, method statements and quality records.

  • Support project leadership with reporting, forecasting, risk management and stakeholder communication.

  • Mentor and develop construction personnel and promote a strong safety and delivery culture.

  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into future projects.

About You

You will be an experienced construction professional with a strong background delivering high-voltage transmission or electrical infrastructure projects.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Significant experience in transmission, substations or high-voltage electrical infrastructure construction.

  • Proven experience managing large construction teams and multiple contractors.

  • Experience delivering complex infrastructure projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.

  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project planning and site management.

  • Experience working within highly regulated electrical infrastructure environments.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian construction standards, safety requirements and electrical infrastructure practices.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documentation.

  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.

  • Proven ability to manage construction programmes, resources, budgets and project risks.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to manage both internal teams and external delivery partners.

  • Willingness to travel across Victoria and NSW as project requirements dictate.

  • 132kV / 220kV / 330kV infrastructure

  • Transmission lines

  • Electrical substations

  • Protection and control systems

  • Renewable energy transmission infrastructure

  • Utility-scale BESS projects

  • Civil works associated with transmission infrastructure

  • Brownfield and live-network environments

  • Major infrastructure / Tier 1 construction projects
