The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established building controls and automation business that is looking to add a BMS Small Projects Engineer to its Melbourne team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a BMS Engineer who enjoys a combination of technical delivery, project coordination, programming and client interaction, and is looking to take ownership of smaller BMS projects from initial scope through to completion.
You will work across a variety of commercial buildings and facilities, delivering upgrades, modifications and small BMS projects while working closely with clients, contractors, engineers and internal delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of BMS small projects from quotation and design through to commissioning and handover
- Develop project scopes, estimates and technical documentation
- Undertake BMS programming, graphics and system configuration
- Configure and integrate BMS controllers and field devices
- Work with BACnet, Modbus and other building automation protocols
- Coordinate subcontractors, electricians and mechanical contractors
- Attend customer sites to assess requirements and troubleshoot technical issues
- Complete testing, commissioning and system optimisation
- Provide technical support to service and project teams
- Maintain project documentation and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Build strong relationships with clients and provide a high level of customer service
About You
We are looking for someone with a background in BMS / Building Automation / HVAC Controls who is comfortable taking ownership of smaller projects and working directly with customers.
Ideally, you will have:
- 3+ years' experience within BMS, BAS or HVAC controls
- Experience delivering BMS upgrades, modifications or small projects
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building services
- Experience with BMS programming and commissioning
- Knowledge of BACnet and Modbus
- Experience with platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Schneider, Siemens, Honeywell, Distech, Trend or similar
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
- Relevant electrical, controls, engineering or building services qualifications are advantageous
