Job Description

Edison Smart is partnering with a growing technology business in the UAE to hire an Applied ML Scientist.

You’ll join a technical team developing machine learning models that support complex, data-driven decision-making across a high-volume platform.

The role will suit someone who combines strong applied machine learning expertise with a practical mindset around getting models into production and measuring their real-world performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and optimise machine learning models for prediction, classification and risk-based use cases.

  • Apply advanced ML techniques to complex behavioural and transactional datasets.

  • Explore graph-based machine learning approaches to identify relationships and patterns across large datasets.

  • Develop robust feature engineering and model evaluation frameworks.

  • Work closely with engineering teams to productionise models and integrate them into applications and services.

  • Monitor model performance, drift and effectiveness in production.

  • Develop approaches to model explainability, transparency and fairness.

  • Run experiments and continuously improve models based on production results.

  • Evaluate new machine learning techniques and technologies.

  • Take ownership of models throughout the full lifecycle from experimentation to production.

Technical Experience

  • Strong applied machine learning experience using Python.

  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn or comparable ML frameworks.

  • Experience working with graph-based data or graph machine learning would be advantageous.

  • Strong feature engineering experience across large and complex datasets.

  • Experience productionising and managing machine learning models.

  • Exposure to MLOps tooling and model lifecycle management.

  • Strong SQL and data manipulation skills.

  • Experience working with large-scale data processing technologies.

  • Understanding of model explainability techniques such as SHAP, LIME or similar.

  • Experience working within cloud-based machine learning environments.

What We're Looking For

You’ll be an applied ML specialist who is interested in solving real-world problems rather than developing models purely for research. You should be comfortable experimenting, challenging assumptions and working closely with engineers to turn successful models into reliable production systems.

Experience within financial technology, risk, high-volume transactional platforms or other data-intensive environments would be advantageous.
