Edison Smart is partnering with a global technology business building advanced AI and data products designed to transform how scientific and R&D teams discover, analyse and utilise complex technical information.

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join its Singapore R&D team, working at the intersection of Data Science, AI/ML and Materials/Chemical Science.

You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams across Data Science, AI, Engineering and Product to develop intelligent systems capable of extracting insights from complex scientific datasets and accelerating materials research and discovery. The underlying work includes AI/ML/LLM techniques, materials data, patents and scientific information.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and apply AI/ML and data science techniques to complex scientific and materials datasets.
  • Build models and analytical approaches for extracting insights and predicting material properties.
  • Work with large, diverse datasets across materials science, chemistry and scientific literature.
  • Explore and integrate new scientific data sources while improving data quality and usability.
  • Apply modern LLM/AI techniques to materials intelligence and scientific discovery.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering and domain specialists to turn research challenges into scalable products.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation AI-powered R&D platforms.

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong experience applying Data Science / AI / Machine Learning to scientific problems.
  • Strong programming and analytical capability.
  • Experience with data preprocessing, curation and complex scientific datasets.
  • Understanding of materials science and/or chemistry.
  • Exposure to LLMs, cheminformatics, materials informatics or cloud technologies would be advantageous.
