About the Opportunity

An industry-leading global data center provider is seeking an experienced Electrical Director to lead the electrical engineering function across a rapidly expanding portfolio of hyperscale and colocation facilities.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining electrical engineering standards, driving technical excellence, supporting global project delivery, and influencing the future of mission-critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership, design, construction and operations teams to ensure best-in-class electrical solutions are delivered across multiple international regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the global electrical engineering function across new build and expansion data center projects.

  • Develop and maintain electrical engineering standards, design guidelines and technical governance processes.

  • Act as the technical authority for all medium and low voltage electrical infrastructure.

  • Provide strategic direction on power distribution architecture, redundancy philosophies and resilience strategies.

  • Review and approve electrical designs produced by internal teams and external consultants.

  • Drive innovation in power systems, energy efficiency, sustainability and emerging technologies supporting AI and high-density compute environments.

  • Support project teams throughout feasibility, design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, commissioning and operations teams to ensure integrated project delivery.

  • Build and mentor a high-performing global electrical engineering team.

  • Establish strong relationships with utilities, equipment manufacturers, EPC contractors and engineering consultants.

  • Support technical due diligence for new developments, acquisitions and strategic investments.

  • Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies across the project portfolio.

  • Represent the organisation as a subject matter expert with customers, industry partners and executive stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 15+ years' experience within mission-critical infrastructure, hyperscale or colocation data center environments.

  • Significant experience leading electrical design and engineering teams across multiple large-scale projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of:

    • MV & LV power distribution

    • Utility coordination

    • Switchgear

    • Transformers

    • UPS systems

    • Standby generation

    • Protection systems

    • Earthing & lightning protection

    • Busway systems

  • Experience developing engineering standards and design governance processes.

  • Strong understanding of international electrical standards and mission-critical design principles.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience working across multiple international regions is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), PE or equivalent professional accreditation.

  • Experience supporting hyperscale cloud providers or large colocation developments.

  • Knowledge of high-density AI infrastructure and next-generation power architectures.

  • Experience with large campus developments exceeding 100MW.
