Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading global developer and operator of hyperscale data centers, delivering mission-critical infrastructure for some of the world's largest cloud, AI and enterprise organisations.

Due to continued growth across Australia, they are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their engineering team and support the delivery of large-scale, high-availability data center projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging developments from concept design through construction, commissioning and operational handover.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across multiple hyperscale data center projects, ensuring electrical systems are designed, reviewed and delivered to the highest standards of reliability, resilience and efficiency.

Working alongside internal project teams, external consultants and contractors, you will play a key role throughout the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering activities across multiple mission-critical projects.
• Review and manage electrical designs produced by external consulting engineers.
• Provide technical guidance throughout planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC) and project requirements.
• Review and approve single line diagrams, protection studies, electrical calculations and equipment selections.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil and commissioning teams.
• Support vendor selection, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering and technical risk assessments.
• Manage RFIs, design changes and technical documentation during construction.
• Support commissioning activities and successful project handover to operations.
• Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement across projects.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years' experience delivering large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience within hyperscale, colocation, mission-critical, utilities or industrial environments is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of:
  • High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) distribution
  • Low Voltage (LV) systems
  • UPS systems
  • Standby generation
  • Switchgear and protection systems
  • Transformers
  • Earthing and lightning protection
  • Power monitoring and SCADA systems
• Experience reviewing consultant designs and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting commissioning and energisation activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership.
• Experience delivering hyperscale or mission-critical facilities.
• Familiarity with ETAP, SKM PowerTools or PowerFactory.
• Exposure to BIM/Revit coordination and digital engineering workflows.
