Job Description
Edison Smart is actively seeking an experienced Building Automation Systems (BAS) Project Manager to join our client's growing team. This is a remote position supporting projects across the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia market, requiring 20% travel to customer sites.
The BAS Project Manager will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of building automation and controls projects from project kickoff through commissioning and closeout. This role is ideal for a motivated Project Manager with a strong background in HVAC controls, smart buildings, and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Building Automation System (BAS) projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, resource planning, procurement, and project execution.
- Coordinate with clients, consulting engineers, subcontractors, field technicians, and internal teams.
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding project status, risks, and milestones.
- Manage project financial performance, including forecasting, change orders, invoicing, and cost controls.
- Ensure successful installation, programming, integration, commissioning, and turnover of BAS projects.
- Support field teams during project execution and troubleshoot project-related issues as needed.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and project partners.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience within Building Automation Systems, HVAC Controls, or Smart Building Technologies.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls sequences, system integration, and commissioning processes.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a client-facing environment.
- Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Distech, or similar.
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and other building automation communication protocols.
- Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and customer expectations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Washington, DC and Northern Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
- Experience supporting federal, government, healthcare, higher education, data center, or mission-critical facilities.
- Exposure to energy management, analytics, and smart building technologies.
