Senior Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical Infrastructure
About the Opportunity
An innovative technology company is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Engineering and Technology team. The organisation designs and delivers next-generation mission-critical infrastructure solutions with a strong focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational resilience.
Working across complex, high-availability environments, you will play a key role in the end-to-end design, engineering, commissioning, and operational support of critical facilities and infrastructure projects.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams on technically challenging projects that leverage advanced cooling technologies, modular construction methodologies, and intelligent energy management systems.
Location: Sydney, Australia, with travel expected throughout project delivery phases (approximately 10–30%).

Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs and technical documentation from concept through to commissioning.
- Support the qualification, onboarding, and management of third-party consultants and contractors.
- Perform engineering calculations and develop system designs for project delivery teams.
- Prepare equipment specifications and support equipment selection, ensuring compliance with performance, efficiency, and operational requirements.
- Review consultant designs, contractor drawings, and equipment selections.
- Contribute to the development of operation and maintenance manuals for critical systems and equipment.
- Conduct site inspections to verify installations align with approved documentation, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Participate in the commissioning of electrical and control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Support research, development, and design optimisation initiatives focused on improving performance, efficiency, and resilience.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in electrical engineering, including at least 3 years within mission-critical environments such as data centres, healthcare facilities, telecommunications, industrial processing, utilities, defence, or other high-availability infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including direct current (DC), low-voltage (LV) AC, and medium-voltage (MV) AC applications.
- Experience applying relevant local and international standards across mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with the Asia-Pacific region and local electrical standards is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality design, testing, and documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience working within cross-functional and multicultural teams.
