Mechanical Engineer – Power Electronics
California | $120,000-$220,000
We’re working with a well-funded, fast-growing start-up developing next-generation power electronics hardware. Their technology focuses on advanced converter systems designed to support large-scale renewable energy, storage, and electrification.
They are now looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the team and take ownership of mechanical design across critical power electronics products.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for medium-voltage power electronics systems. This is a hands-on engineering role covering the full product lifecycle — from concept and CAD design through prototyping, testing, and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design enclosures, heatsinks, plastics, insulators, and electromechanical assemblies for power converter systems
- Own mechanical designs from concept through to high-volume production
- Perform analysis including structural, thermal, and tolerance studies
- Create 3D models and drawings
- Work closely with electrical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 4+ years of industry experience in mechanical design
- Strong 3D CAD skills
- Experience designing electromechanical assemblies
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, injection moulding, and machining
Experience with power electronics, PCB assemblies, or thermal analysis would be advantageous.
