Senior Project Manager – Data Centres

Location: Japan

About the Company

We are representing a leading global data centre operator with an established international presence and a growing portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region.

The business specialises in the development, delivery and operation of large-scale, mission-critical data centre facilities, supporting the increasing demand for cloud computing, hyperscale and AI infrastructure.

As the business continues to expand its operations in Japan, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of major data centre developments.

The Role

The Senior Project Manager will take responsibility for managing the end-to-end delivery of complex data centre projects, overseeing programme, budget, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required technical standards.

Working closely with internal engineering teams, consultants, contractors and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in driving project execution across the full development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale data centre construction and development projects.

• Manage project programmes, budgets, procurement and overall delivery strategies.

• Oversee contractors, consultants and construction partners throughout the project lifecycle.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across civil, structural, mechanical and electrical packages.

• Monitor project progress, identify delivery risks and implement mitigation strategies.

• Ensure projects are delivered in line with safety, quality and technical requirements.

• Manage client, contractor, consultant and internal stakeholder relationships.

• Oversee design coordination, construction progress, testing and commissioning activities.

• Provide regular project reporting to senior management and key stakeholders.

• Drive continuous improvement across project delivery processes and standards.

Experience & Requirements

• Extensive experience delivering large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.

• Previous experience within the data centre / mission-critical sector is highly desirable.

• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.

• Proven track record managing complex, multidisciplinary construction projects.

• Experience overseeing main contractors, consultants and specialist subcontractors.

• Strong commercial, contractual and programme management capabilities.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Experience working within the Japanese construction market would be advantageous.

• Japanese and English language capabilities would be beneficial.
