The Opportunity

We’re working with a growing building automation business in Sydney that is looking to bring an experienced BMS Estimator into the team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in Building Management Systems (BMS), building automation or HVAC controls who understands the technical and commercial side of projects and can produce accurate, competitive tenders.

You’ll be involved in estimating BMS projects across a range of commercial buildings and potentially data centre and critical infrastructure environments, working closely with internal engineering, project delivery and commercial teams to develop solutions that meet client requirements.

The role would suit someone who understands BMS project requirements, can interpret technical documentation and enjoys putting together detailed tenders that help secure new business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for BMS and building automation projects.

  • Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, points lists and sequences of operation.

  • Identify project requirements, equipment, controllers, field devices, software and labour allowances.

  • Develop accurate material take-offs and costings for BMS installations and upgrades.

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and confirm project requirements.

  • Work closely with sales, engineering and project delivery teams to develop competitive proposals.

  • Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and potential variations during the tendering process.

  • Support the preparation of technical and commercial submissions.

  • Assist with tender reviews, handovers and clarification meetings where required.

About You

  • Experience estimating BMS, BAS, HVAC controls or building automation projects.

  • Strong understanding of BMS architecture, control systems, field devices and associated installation requirements.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

  • Understanding of BMS labour, equipment and installation costs.

  • Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple tenders and deadlines.

Experience with platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Johnson Controls or Distech Controls would be advantageous.
