Job Description

Ignition SCADA Engineer

Location: Sydney, Australia
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Ignition SCADA Engineer to join a growing automation team in Sydney, with opportunities to work on projects across data centres, critical infrastructure and industrial automation.

This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on experience using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform who wants to take ownership of projects, develop their technical expertise and help drive the delivery of SCADA solutions as demand for the technology continues to grow.

You’ll play a key role in designing, engineering and implementing Ignition systems, working closely with an established team with strong PLC and automation experience. As the first dedicated Ignition specialist within the business, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact and help shape the company’s Ignition capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement SCADA solutions using the Ignition platform.

  • Engineer and configure Ignition systems to meet project and client requirements.

  • Support the integration of SCADA platforms with PLCs, control systems and associated technologies.

  • Work across the full project lifecycle, from initial design through to implementation and commissioning.

  • Collaborate with the wider engineering team on automation and control system projects.

  • Assist with project estimating, technical proposals and customer presentations where required.

  • Provide technical input into solutions for data centres, critical infrastructure and industrial applications.

  • Help expand the business’s Ignition capability as demand for SCADA projects continues to increase.

About You

  • Practical, hands-on experience working with Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA platform.

  • Experience designing, developing, configuring and implementing SCADA systems.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering deliverables.

  • PLC programming or integration experience, ideally with Allen-Bradley or Phoenix Contact.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, clients and other stakeholders.

Desirable experience:

  • Previous experience working on data centre or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley or Phoenix Contact PLC systems.

  • Exposure to Siemens, Schneider Electric or other industrial automation platforms.

  • Experience contributing to project estimates, technical proposals or customer presentations.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Opportunity to become the business’s go-to Ignition specialist.

  • Exposure to data centre and critical infrastructure projects.

  • Work alongside an established team with strong PLC and automation expertise.

  • Scope to develop your technical capabilities and take on greater responsibility as the Ignition offering grows.

  • A role that combines hands-on engineering with potential involvement in solution design and technical sales.

  • Competitive remuneration tailored to your experience and technical capabilities.
