About the Role

We are seeking experienced Commissioning Engineers (Electrical or Mechanical) to support commissioning activities across multiple industrial and manufacturing project sites in the US. This is a contract opportunity with positions available at one of four locations: Cedar Rapids, IA; York, NC; Atlanta, GA; or Salt Lake City, UT.

You will play a key role in verifying that newly installed systems and equipment are functioning correctly, safely, and in line with design specifications, working closely with construction, engineering, and operations teams to deliver projects through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning activities for electrical or mechanical systems, including inspection, testing, and functional verification
  • Develop and follow commissioning plans, test scripts, and checksheets
  • Identify, document, and resolve punch list items and non-conformances
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and site teams to troubleshoot issues during startup
  • Perform loop checks, functional testing, and pre-commissioning/commissioning walkdowns
  • Support system handover and ensure documentation is complete and accurate
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and site safety requirements
  • Liaise with project engineers and construction managers to track commissioning progress against schedule

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience in commissioning within industrial, manufacturing, energy, or infrastructure environments
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems (switchgear, MCCs, instrumentation) or mechanical systems (piping, rotating equipment, HVAC/utilities), depending on discipline
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work on-site full-time for the duration of the contract
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams
  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
