Location: Lisbon (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)

Contract: Initial 12 months (3 year project

Day Rate: €40–€50 per hour

Language: B2/C1 English

 

Overview

We are hiring a Lead Data Engineer to join a major cloud data transformation programme within a global organisation. You will play a key role in designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native data platforms to support advanced analytics and enterprise decision-making.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining architecture, engineering, and mentoring within a Microsoft-focused data ecosystem.

 

Key Responsibilities & Skills

  • Lead end-to-end design and delivery of data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, orchestration)
  • Define and implement modern data architecture (Medallion, Lakehouse)
  • Build and optimise data platforms using Azure, Fabric, Synapse, Data Factory
  • Develop solutions using Python, SQL, and Spark
  • Ensure performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and reliability of data systems
  • Implement DataOps/CI-CD, automation, and monitoring practices
  • Set standards for data quality, lineage, and documentation
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Tech Stack: Azure, Fabric, Synapse, Data Factory, Python, SQL, Spark, CI/CD
