Job Title: Senior / Staff Embedded Software Engineer – C++ (Aerospace & Defense)
Location: Huntsville, AL
Contract: Multi-year

Role Overview:
We are seeking Senior and Staff Embedded Software Engineers with deep expertise in C++ and real-time systems to join a high-profile, mission-critical aerospace program. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining low-level, high-reliability software for advanced defense systems. Candidates must demonstrate engineering rigor, system-level thinking, and a focus on performance, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize embedded software for mission-critical aerospace systems.

  • Implement and debug low-level software on real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks or Green Hills.

  • Collaborate with system engineers, hardware engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure software meets stringent performance, safety, and reliability requirements.

  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to maintain the highest standards of quality.

  • Contribute to architecture design discussions and system-level problem solving.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in C++ for embedded systems development.

  • Hands-on experience with real-time operating systems (VxWorks or Green Hills highly preferred).

  • Experience with mission-critical or safety-critical software in aerospace, defense, or related industries.

  • Solid understanding of low-level hardware interfaces, interrupt handling, and performance optimization.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in missile defense or advanced aerospace programs.

  • Familiarity with software development standards for safety and reliability (e.g., DO-178C).

  • Knowledge of version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
