Job Description

Our client is a seed stage physical AI company based in Paris, spun out of one of Europe's leading robotics research institutes. Their software lets an operator show a humanoid robot a task a few times and have it working on the production line in under an hour, with no code.

The software is hardware agnostic and runs across multiple humanoid platforms. It is already deployed with major European manufacturers in automotive, industrial equipment and consumer goods.

The team is small and research led, with a world renowned robotics researcher as CTO. As one of the first 15 hires, you'll help shape the engineering culture, practices and the product itself.

The role

You'll own the system that brings everything together on real hardware. Perception, learning and robot interfaces need to run as one reliable system across many different humanoid platforms, in real factory conditions. This role makes that happen, from the ROS 2 architecture to the moment the robot goes live on a customer's line.

Responsibilities

- Design and maintain the ROS 2 architecture that ties the AI stack together

- Build controllers and interfaces for humanoids, mobile manipulators and industrial arms

- Bring up new robot platforms and integrate vendor SDKs

- Containerise and deploy the full stack with Docker, including on edge hardware

- Build test infrastructure and validation pipelines for system level integration

- Debug across hardware, firmware and software boundaries

- Deploy and commission software on site with customers, roughly one week a month

- Own reliability: logging, observability and reproducibility for long autonomous runs

Requirements

- MSc in robotics or equivalent hands on experience. PhD with hands on robotics also welcome

- Strong ROS 2

- Docker in a robotics context

- Strong Python

- Hands on experience deploying software on physical robots

- Comfortable debugging across hardware, firmware and software

- Linux, Git and CI/CD

- Professional English

Nice to have

- Experience with humanoids

- Work with several robot platforms (arms, mobile bases, etc.)

- Factory or manufacturing deployments, or time at a robot maker

- Integrating ML models on real robots at a research lab

- Real time systems and C++

- Robotics competitions (RoboCup, Eurobot, etc.)

What's on offer

- Salary up to €100,000

- Early and generous founding equity

- Relocation support to Paris

- EU and non EU candidates welcome

- English speaking team

- A fleet of advanced robots, including humanoids, to work on

- Your work running in production at major manufacturers
