Director of Quality Assurance Legal & Compliance

Location: Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Compliance Quality Assurance (QA) function across the Legal & Compliance department.
  • Act as the central authority for QA governance, review methodologies, and quality standards.
  • Conduct hands-on quality reviews of compliance activities, including case assessments, decision reviews, and process evaluations.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and calibration for existing QA resources to ensure consistency across reviews.
  • Develop and enhance QA frameworks, scoring methodologies, review criteria, escalation processes, and reporting standards.
  • Build and mature a comprehensive compliance assurance programme beyond existing QA activities.
  • Identify recurring quality issues, control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, and operational risks through thematic reviews.
  • Partner closely with Compliance, AML, KYC/KYB, Operations, and Risk teams to improve execution standards and control effectiveness.
  • Produce management reporting highlighting QA findings, trends, key risks, and assurance outcomes.
  • Recommend process improvements, control enhancements, and training initiatives based on review findings.
  • Act as an independent quality challenger, driving continuous improvement across compliance operations.

 

Requirements

  • 812 years of experience within Compliance, Compliance Assurance, Quality Assurance, Internal Audit, AML Controls, or Operational Risk in financial services, fintech, payments, banking, or digital assets.
  • Proven experience conducting QA reviews, assurance testing, control assessments, or case quality reviews.
  • Strong understanding of compliance operations, particularly AML, KYC/KYB, customer onboarding, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or improving QA or compliance assurance frameworks.
  • Ability to independently identify risks, challenge existing processes, and drive remediation initiatives.
  • Comfortable operating as the owner of a function within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a pragmatic, execution-focused approach.
