Senior Hardware Engineer
We are supporting a global communications and space technology organization developing advanced satellite, wireless, and mission-critical networking systems used in commercial and government applications. They are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their team focused on next-generation satellite modem development.
This role is responsible for end-to-end hardware design, integration, and validation of FPGA-based modem systems, working across schematic design, PCB layout, bring-up, and lab debugging in a high-performance engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop complex hardware for satellite modem and communications systems
• Work on FPGA-based architectures integrated into multi-layer PCB designs
• Own schematic capture, board layout review, and component selection
• Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis for high-speed digital systems
• Lead board bring-up, validation, and hardware debug in lab environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in a matrixed structure
Experience & Qualifications:
• 5+ years of hardware design experience in high-speed digital or communications systems
• Strong background in FPGA-based hardware design
• Experience with DDR/LPDDR, Flash, SPI NOR, and eMMC memory interfaces
• Knowledge of clock distribution systems (PLLs, fanout buffers, termination strategies)
• Familiarity with SERDES, Ethernet PHYs/switches, ADCs, and DACs
• Experience with power distribution network design and analysis
• Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, VNA, etc.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
Nice to Have:
• Exposure to satellite communications systems or SATCOM waveforms
• RF or L-band design experience
• Soldering and hardware rework skills
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers
• Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. government security clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
